Muscat Art 2024: Over 200 Artists from 18 Countries Showcase Creativity at Oman Convention & Exhibition Center
The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth, in partnership with the Oman Convention & Exhibition Center, is preparing to host the third edition of Muscat Art 2024 from 28th to 31st October. The opening ceremony will be held under the patronage of His Excellency Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, at 8 p.m. on Monday, October 28, at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center, with the participation of more than 200 artists from 18 countries.
The 2024 edition includes more than 200 artists from 18 countries, including Hungary, Iran, Yemen, Palestine, Lebanon, India, the United Kingdom, Sudan, Germany, and others. The organizers have made sure to focus on Omani artists, giving them a dedicated space within the exhibition, including emerging talents like Hamid Al Aufi and renowned artists such as Youssef Al Nuhwi. This year, the event also introduced art curators to select the showcased works, including artists Alia Al Farsi and Hassan Meer, who have helped organize the event and reach out to local and international talents to ensure broad participation. The local production and photography company Bella Luna Productions will be sponsoring this event and supporting the OCEC with the coverage for Muscat Art.
His Excellency Said bin Sultan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth for Culture, stated, "This event is one of the important artistic programs that the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth is keen to include in the cultural calendar of Oman. Artists from various countries gather in Muscat to celebrate art and provide an exceptional experience throughout the event. It reflects the cultural strategic objectives for 2040, whether in terms of cultural content or cultural partnerships. We are proud to collaborate with the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center in organizing this event to enhance cultural awareness and highlight the importance of fine arts through workshops and community activities. We hope this event continues to flourish as a platform to explore and showcase all forms of creativity."
Commenting on the event, Eng. Said Al Shanfari, CEO of the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center, said, "The center is a magnificent venue known for hosting events across strategic fields that contribute to our country's development. Through Muscat Art, we seek to create a cultural initiative with a significant impact on our nation - bringing communities together, showcasing our culture and traditions, and embracing the artistic trends that shape Oman today. We notice growing regional interest each year, as new artists display their works on our walls. We are extremely grateful for the support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth, as well as our sponsors, artists, and visitors, without whom this event would not be possible."
The Muscat Art Exhibition aims to raise cultural awareness, preserve the heritage of fine arts, and gain regional recognition. The event has grown in popularity, attracting more exhibitors and visitors each year, with a vision to become a major art gathering in the region. In addition to being an art exhibition, it plays a significant role in Oman’s cultural scene by celebrating the country’s living talents. This year’s edition will also feature lectures and workshops where experts will discuss topics related to art. Visitors will be able to enjoy sculpture workshops, live music, and entertainment throughout the three-day event.
