Ajman Tourism Announces Rich Cultural Experience at Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival 2024
With a comprehensive program of events, shows, and educational workshops
Ajman, United Arab Emirates - July 23, 2024 – Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, the Ajman Department of Tourism Development (ADTD) is organizing the ninth edition of the Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival 2024. This festival offers a rich and unique cultural experience and will be held at the Emirates Hospitality Hall in Ajman from July 24 to 28, 2024. The festival includes diverse events, shows, and educational workshops.
With the support of sponsors and partners from both the public and private sectors, including the Ministry of Community Development, Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, Sharjah Museums represented by Sharjah Fort (AlHisn), Sharjah Archaeology Museum, Sharjah International Museum, Bait Sheikh Saeed bin Hamad Al Qasimi, Bait Al Naboodah, and Hisn Khorfakkan, in addition to Katuri Team and several artists, the Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival 2024 offers a daily program that includes artistic and heritage performances. The festival also consists of a variety of competitions and learning workshops tailored to meet the needs of all age groups, including specialized workshops for children and others aimed at middle-aged and older audiences.
His Excellency Mahmood Khaleel Alhashmi, Director General of ADTD, stated: "The activities and learning workshops at the Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival play a strategic role in enhancing Emirati culture and deepening the bonds between different generations. These activities not only revive heritage but also effectively contribute to instilling the values of Emirati culture in young generations, thereby strengthening community ties and raising awareness about the importance of preserving our national heritage."
The festival's entertainment offerings are suitable for the entire family, featuring performances on the main stage by a folk troupe showcasing traditional music and dances, Katuri Stage shows for children, musical performances by the Ajman Police Band, and conventional displays by the Traditional bands like Al Ayyala, Habban, and Bahryaa.
The festival will also host workshops organized by various governmental and private entities. These include decorating cups with heritage stickers, learning palm tree cultivation, making eco-friendly bags, decorating Arabic coffee cups, and teaching children how to decorate incense burners and make candles from beeswax.
Additionally, the festival will feature competitive contests, including the best dates competition with various categories, citrus fruit competitions, and contests for other fruits like mango, almond, and lemon baskets. Honey competitions will also be held, covering categories such as Sidr honey, Samr honey, crystallized honey, and honeycomb honey. Winners from Ajman, the Northern Emirates, and other Emirates will receive valuable prizes, with the first-place award being AED 7,000, second place AED 5,000, and third place AED 3,000.
The Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival offers a unique opportunity to enjoy a heritage-rich atmosphere and learn about the cultural significance of palm trees in Emirati tradition. This event is set to be a highlight of Ajman's summer festivities.
The Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival will be held at the Emirates Hospitality Hall in Ajman from July 24 to July 28, from 10 AM to 11 PM.
