The latest entry into the mid-range smartphone market, the OPPO Reno4, is a brilliant option for those with a budget. One of three variants under the OPPO Reno4 Series, the Reno4 falls within an accessible price range and is a fine-looking option for anyone in need of an across-the-board good Android upgrade.

The Reno4 series is headlined by the Reno4 Pro 5G followed by the Reno4 Pro and Reno4. All three phones continue the Reno series aesthetic of slim, light and smooth build with each phone offering a unique mix of features that makes it stand out while staying friendly to a variety of budgets.

I've been using the Reno4 device for the last few weeks, and if you’re looking for an accessible phone with all the features and trimmings of a mid-range handset, then the trendy Reno4 is for you.

Priced at OMR 154.900, the Reno4 is exceptionally compact and lightweight measuring 7.7mm thick and weighing just 165g for a comfy form factor that’s easy to hold and fit into a pocke. It comes in a choice of two colours – a Galactic Blue that was developed together with Pantone Color Institute, and Space Black with a specially designed OPPO monogram that appears translucent under light; the one we have for review in Galactic Blue colour which is really eye-catching.

Measuring 6.4 inches with a sharp pixel density of 409 ppi, the vibrant AMOLED display on the front of the compact Reno4 makes it great for watching videos or indulging in your favourite mobile game.

You will be getting on the Reno4 OPPO's ColorOS 7.2 user-interface which is based on Android OS. Clean, sleek and lacking any of the frustrating bloatware that bogs down other phones, a pleasant user experience awaits new or returning Android users.

The Reno4 is powered by a 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chip, and a RAM storage of 8 GB plus 128 GB ROM. An expandable storage of up to 256 GB is available via a Micro SD Card. which is honestly, excellent for a mid-range smartphone, and is more than capable of delivering excellent performance

There’s also 30W VOOC Flash Charge 4.0 - one of the fastest mobile charging technologies, that charges the Reno4’s battery from zero to 50% within 20 minutes only. A fully charged battery can be achieved within 57 minutes without the device heating up.

The highlight of the Reno4 series is exceptional night videography and portrait shooting capabilities. The smartphone features a triple camera on the rear - 48 MP (wide) + 8 MP (ultrawide) + 2 MP (depth) - capable of capturing clear and sharp details. The front 32MP single camera takes outstanding selfies. You can also capture epic videos thanks to Ultra Steady Mode 3.0 that shoots stabilized footage from both the front camera and the ultra-wide lens on the back.

The Reno4’s infinite display gives the phone a dashing look and makes for the perfect device for streaming videos or mobile gaming. Enjoy countless hours of stress-free gaming without having to worry about the device heating up in your palms.

For music lovers the sound quality is sublime, especially if you use high-quality headphones. Of course, the phone supports all the latest audio codecs, too, including aptX, aptX HD, and LDAC.

You also get to enjoy advanced AI-enhanced smart features available only on the Reno4. From Smart Spying that prevents others from sneaking a peek when you get a notification and Smart Rotation that rotates the phone screen after detecting the position of your face to Smart AirControl that allows you to control the phone with touch-free gestures and Smart Always-on Display that keeps the screen on as long you’re looking at the phone screen.

Switching to the new OPPO Reno4 has never been easier. For previous android users, you can use your Google account to ‘Sync’ your old phone and all your data will be automatically synced to your device.

Over the past few years, OPPO has been very busy developing revolutionary products and garnering the attention of tech lovers worldwide, and the Reno4 is testament to just that.

The verdict:

Overall, the OPPO Reno4 is a great device that checks all the boxes at its price range and with looks that are more premium than expected. I would definitely recommend this to those looking at mid-range smartphones with superior tech specs.
