Muscat, Oman, 09 February 2020: Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping malls, communities, retail, and leisure pioneer across the Middle East, Africa and Asia, has joined forces with The Retail Agency to launch Tamheen initiative - an educational and training programme tailor-made for Omani nationals. The two firms will work shoulder to shoulder to design and deliver a comprehensive series of specialised training sessions that will equip the Omani workforce with the tools for success in the growing retail space.

The partnership combines the goals of The Retail Agency – an accredited, first of its kind boutique firm that works to elevate Oman’s retail sector through education, training, and consulting, with those of Majid Al Futtaim.

The initiative comes at an opportune time for Majid Al Futtaim, with the upcoming opening of Mall of Oman. The new flagship mall will stand apart as an unrivalled destination for shopping and entertainment in Oman, and will be a major employer of the talented Omani men and women that Tamheen seeks to nurture.

Talib Omar Al Balushi, Oman Country Head for Majid Al Futtaim, said: “At Majid Al Futtaim, we are committed to supporting the local community, creating meaningful partnerships, achieving sustainable development and empowering Omani talent. We have no doubt that the partnership with The Retail Agency will put talent development at the top of the agenda, and provide the retail sector with qualified resources and expertise. It will also help in assessing the training and skills development programmes that are most suited to the needs of the workforce. As a result, we will provide new employment opportunities and strengthen the skills of Omanis while supporting the country’s economic growth.”

Maimunah Al-Shebani, Founder and General Manager of The Retail Agency, commented: “We are very excited to launch this partnership with Majid Al Futtaim. The Retail Agency exists to support local talent, and today we have an excellent opportunity to attract more Omani nationals to the sector, while connecting retailers to the Sultanate’s workforce. Through the Tamheen initiative, we’re aiming to increase the Omanisation percentage within the retail sector, which is currently under 14 per cent. We look forward to creating relevant career opportunities for job seekers by bringing educational and training programmes to different fields of the retail sector.”
