DUBAI, 10 March 2023: There’s no better time to book a trip to Six Senses Zighy Bay than this Ramadan and Eid-al Fitr. Nestled in Oman’s dramatic Musandam Peninsula, where rugged mountains dive into vibrant emerald waters, across a powdery sand beach, GCC residents can enjoy the leisurely drive from Dubai (just 2 hours away) or from anywhere in Oman.

For adventure-seekers, couples, families or just those looking for a private getaway, the 82-villa resort is a remarkable natural playground. During the very special period which focuses on reflection and togetherness, guests can discover a number of meaningful experiences.

Here are 11 perfect reasons to explore Six Senses Zighy Bay during the Holy Month and after:

    1.    Enjoy the resort’s private accommodation with private pool

What could be more relaxing than limited access to the outside world? Six Senses Zighy Bay’s village-inspired villas, suites, and beachfront retreats are the ideal undiscovered havens for guests to enjoy time and space to find themselves.

Natural stone and timber set the style for Omani-inspired private enclaves, whilst colorful and cool interiors lead out to personal pool areas with high cobblestone walls, sun loungers and shaded summer houses.

    2.    Dine 293 meters above the Azure Waters

Perched on a private terrace and set to the most picturesque backdrop, the resort’s signature award-winning restaurant sits 293 meters above the azure waters of Zighy Bay, overlooking the magnificent Omani landscape. Serving a Kaiseki style dinner, Sense on the Edge tells the story of Executive Chef Sébastien Pinson’s culinary journey and personal travels from land to sea.

The family-friendly restaurant draws on French technique yet replicates Asian flavors, where each plate is carefully curated with the freshest, locally sourced ingredients and filled with rich flavors. The “Hotate” offers Kombu curried Muscat scallops blended with sustainable caviar, the “Kinoko” gives the smooth texture of mushrooms and potato mousseline fused with soy and balsamic, while the “Tara” offers roasted sustainable cod imbued with miso glaze and khao mun.

    3.    Set Sail on the Dhahab

Six Senses Zighy Bay takes to the seas for its latest out-of-the-ordinary escapade. The recently refurbished Dhahab – meaning gold in Arabic – now offers one- or two-night voyages for the ultimate sea-hotel adventure.

Guests can explore the dramatic coastline and fjords of Musandam aboard a traditional, hand-crafted Omani dhow. From mornings exploring quaint fishing villages unaffected by the passing of time to afternoons cruising azure waters boasting some of the world’s most famous diving sites and evenings watching the sunset flicker over the Hajar Mountains, there’s never a dull moment on board. The beautifully designed 90-foot (27.5-meter) vessel features three bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms to accommodate up to six people.

    4.    Make your own soap, candles and glass art Earth Lab

The Six Senses brand is wildly recognized for its commitment to sustainability, establishing the initial benchmarks for the hospitality industry in its obligation to the environment. At Zighy Bay, guests can support and learn more about the cause with the resort’s own Sustainability Director, Armand Thieblemont, at the recently renovated Earth lab and try making their own eco-soap not to mention candles & glass art, the perfect gifts for loved ones.

    5.    Watch a movie under the stars in the comfort of your beach villa

Within the comfort of each guest’s own private villa, a movie night under the stars is a must. Guests can relax and enjoy a selection of past and present movies, complete with movie snacks as part of the Cinema Paradiso experience.

    6.    Authentic Bedouin Dining

Food is always on the agenda at Six Senses Zighy Bay and for an experience to remember, guests can indulge in an authentic Bedouin dining experience on the beach. Diners can start with a drink in their hand and feet in the sand followed by cold and hot mezze, Omani Shua lamb and selection of sliced fruit, barazek and date maamoul cookies, whilst looking out onto the ocean.

    7.    Experience a layered approach to wellness at the spa

Six Senses Zighy Bay use smart technology to measure guest’s inner health, movement, and sleep patterns to ensure that their wellness experts can then personalize the treatments, activities and nutritional advice based on your specific needs. Guests can achieve a healthy, balanced body and mind during their stay and sustain it once they return home.

    8.    Hike in the Al Hajar mountains

Guests can go on a hike in the Al Hajar mountains and explore the ancient Omani villages, farms and heritages sites surrounding the resort. Depending on their level of adventure, guests can choose from three hikes: Smugglers Bay, Wadi, and Wedding Tree.

    9.    Go on a snorkeling trip with an international diver

The Musandam Peninsula is known for its rich marine life and pristine emerald waters. With experienced international divers to guide guests, there is no reason not to enjoy the mystical waters and go for a dive. If the weather permits, there is a chance to snorkel in a big overhead cave along the coast of Sanat during the shared or private two-hour trip on a luxury speed boat. If you’d prefer to stay on dry land, book a chat with the resort’s Marine Biologist to learn about all of the marine life that call the Gulf of Oman their home, and how the resort is working to protect them.

    10.    Meet with a visiting practitioner

The resort also always encourages guests to book appointments with visiting practitioners (who are true experts within their respective wellness fields).

Until April 30th, 2023, why not have a consultation with Anil Singh, an expert in Naturopath, Hypnotherapist and Yoga. For the past 20 years, Anil has worked in the field of Yoga and wellness in various resorts and organizations in countries including Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. He will be offering a series of curated treatments during his time at Six Senses Zighy Bay including Yogic Breathwork, Interactive Hypnotherapy, Shankha-Prakshalana (Digestive Detox), Nasyam (Sinus Treatment), Trigger Point Therapy alongside an Integrated Wellness Screening.

    11.    Sense of Oman through a Woman’s Eyes

Guests can now embark on a cultural journey by discovering the way of life of Omani women from the resort’s neighboring town, Dibba. Arriving at the Dibba Women Association, just a 20-minute drive from Six Senses Zighy Bay, travellers are invited to have a hand in culturally crafted experiences – from weaving to coffee blending and pottery decorating. Explore a new culture and learn how to prepare Omani delicacies, which you’ll be able to taste in a traditional Omani breakfast.

Priced at OMR 65 (AED 620), this experience takes place every Monday and Wednesday between 10am – 1pm and allows guests to support the Dibba Women Association firsthand. All proceeds will be put to fund their infrastructure development projects, including facilities for local children.
