DUBAI, 18 February 2025: A culinary haven nestled within Oman’s northern Musandam Peninsula, Six Senses Zighy Bay continues to delight guests with its Taste of Zighy series, this time welcoming acclaimed Michelin-starred Chef Mattias Roock. During his visit, the German chef will present a masterfully curated five-course menu followed by an opportunity for diners to witness an electrifying culinary showdown in one of the most spectacular settings in the region.
On March 5th and 6th, guests will ascend to Sense on The Edge, the resort’s signature mountaintop restaurant, for an extraordinary five-course menu that tells a tale of Chef Roock’s distinctive gastronomic flair. Known for his sophisticated Mediterranean cuisine with French influences and a dash of creative vibrancy, the menu promises a symphony of dishes crafted with the finest ingredients. With sweeping views of the Gulf of Oman and the rugged Hajar Mountains, diners will enjoy a feast for the senses at 293 meters above sea level. The menu is priced at OMR 125 per person, with an optional wine pairing available.
The evening’s menu is a celebration of refined flavours and thoughtful pairings. The journey begins with scallops complemented by cucumber, parsley, and radishes, offering a fresh and delicate start. This is followed by goat cheese ricotta, where pumpkin, ginger, and saffron create a beautifully balanced dish. For the main course, guests have a choice between black Angus beef or local fish before enjoying pink lamb entrecôte, sweet potato, Raz el Hanout, and a medley of cauliflower and broccoli. To conclude the evening, caramelised panna cotta is served with citrus fruits, basil sorbet, and a crumble, bringing a perfectly sweet and refreshing finish to the meal.
The excitement continues on March 7th with the Battle of the Chefs, a dynamic and interactive dining experience hosted on Six Senses Zighy Bay’s Main Beach. Chef Roock will go head-to-head with the resort’s own culinary masters in a friendly competition, bringing fire, finesse, and flavour to live cooking stations under the stars. Guests will witness creative gastronomy in action, sampling each chef’s unique take on ingredients sourced from the resort’s Organic Farm and local suppliers. This one-night-only beachfront event promises an evening of thrills and culinary camaraderie.
With a Michelin star and 18 Gault Millau points to his name, Chef Mattias Roock is no stranger to the world of fine dining. Having honed his craft at renowned kitchens across Europe, the USA, and Asia, he now leads the culinary team at Castello del Sole Beach Resort & Spa in Ascona, Switzerland. His cuisine is deep rooted in hyper-local ingredients, many sourced directly from his own garden and the nearby Terreni alla Maggia.
