Indian Embassy Celebrates 150th Birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and UN International Non-violence Day

The Inaugural event of two year-long commemoration of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in Oman was organized on 2nd October which is also celebrated as United Nations International Day of Non-Violence.

The celebration, organized by Embassy of India, Muscat, in association with Raja Yoga Centre for Self Development, was graced H.E. Sheikh Mohammed Said al-Kalbani, Minister of Social Development of the Sultanate of Oman, as Chief Guest and presence of H.E. Sheikh Hilal Marhoon Salim Al Maamari, Chief West Asia Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman, and many Officials, Ambassadors, diplomats, distinguished personalities and members of Indian community.

Sister Shivani, an internationally acclaimed motivational speaker, delivered keynote address on peace.

Over 1500 persons who joined the celebration witnessed the unveiling of release of special Indian Postage Stamp in commemoration of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi released in India earlier in the day.

The audience was enthralled by three special videos prepared by Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, in commemoration of 150th birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi:

a video on ever inspiring messages from the life of Mahatma Gandhi; “Vaishnav Jan To” devotional song which was Mahatma Gandhi’s favorite devotional song, in the voice of Mr. Haitham Mohammed Rafi, a popular Omani singer; and a medley version of the devotional song prepared with contributions from artists of 124 countries, including Oman. #BapuAt150 Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India
